Introducing The Dank Living Soil

In the world of growing plants to their fullest potential, the health of the soil you use is paramount to your success. Traditionally, soil has been seen merely as a medium for plant growth however research has begun to show that intricate and vibrant ecosystems within the soil used has a direct reflection on the results of the plant’s health and potential. We are very proud to introduce a living soil that puts the intricate and vibrant ecosystems center stage in its blend. The Dank Living Soil, while new to Bella’s Blends, is not a new soil to the market and has had a large impact on growers within the mid-west and we look forward to bringing this blend to even more growers!

What is The Dank?

The Dank is a specialized living soil mix that is teeming with beneficial microorganisms, fungi, and organic matter. To be more specific, this blend includes: Coco Coir, Peat Moss, Worm Castings, Ocean and Mushroom Compost, Mycorrhizae, Biochar, Pumice and Rice Hulls along with the following minerals: Kelp Meal, Karanja Cake, Alfalfa Meal, Fishbone Meal, Langbeinite, Azomite, Glacial Rock Dust, Gypsum and Bentonite. Unlike conventional soils that often rely heavily on synthetic fertilizers, The Dank promotes a holistic approach to plant health. It is designed to create a self-sustaining ecosystem that supports robust plant growth while maintaining soil health over a longer period of time.

Why does The Dank have so much stuff in it!?!?

The core of The Dank’s effectiveness lies in its rich, diverse composition. Here is a highlight of a few of those:

  • Composted Organic Matter: This provides a slow-release source of nutrients as well as enhancing the soil structure

  • MyCorrhizal Fungi: Mycorrhizae is all the rage (I mean did you see “Fantastic Fungi” on Netflix!?!?). These organisms are amazing and form relationships with plant roots which improve water and nutrient uptake by creating food webs.

  • Beneficial Bacteria: Essential for breaking down organic matter and recycling nutrients. These organisms work for the plant, while the plant creates sugars that feeds them.

  • Worm Castings: Rich in nutrients and beneficial microbes.

  • Biochar: This charcoal-like substance improves soil aeration and water retention all the while creating a parking lot for the microorganisms to hang out and party.
